New EDGE technology (Enhanced Data for Global Evolution) allows data transferring at speed up to 384 Kbit/sec that exceeds GPRS capability 8—10 times as much. Real operational speed which is provided by mobile phones represented in the market nowadays can be up to 240 Kbit/sec that exceeds average GPRS speed 5 times as much.

There’s no need to change services settings — phone will automatically switch to EDGE mode as soon as it will appear in zone with EDGE coverage.

At present there are following phone models in the Ukrainian market which support EDGE technology:

At the same time cost of MMS, WAP, traditional access to Internet, mobile E-mail services on basis of EDGE technology remains the same as while using GPRS service

Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) — is a protocol of wireless access to informational and service resources of global Internet network directly from mobile telephones. To use this service it is enough to have a mobile telephone with built-in micro browser, which supports WAP protocol and to set it up properly.

GPRS — is the technology of high-speed data transfer in the mobile communication networks, which allows you to:

• increase 3—4 times the speed of receiving and transferring data
• pay only for real received and transmitted volume of information content during total stay in the Internet network
• receive and transmit 3—4 times more information during the same period of time, owing to increased speed of data receive/transmission
• connect with Internet in couple of seconds

In order to organize access to the Internet with GPRS you have to:

• have mobile telephone with GPRS support
• adjust your mobile telephone correspondingly and, when using traditional access to the Internet, the software of your personal computer.

This service is available for all contract subscribers in Kiev and oblast, Chernigiv and oblast.

All Kyivstar GSM subscribers have possibility to order and receive on their mobile telephone logotypes, ring melody or game by using «StarPort» (wap.starport.com.ua) services. You can also use Kyivstar Company partner services.

Cell Broadcast — is a service, which allows receiving informational messages transmitted in the network of cellular operator. Currently in the Kyivstar GSM network the information on your location (closest settlement or highway number on which you are moving) is broadcasted on the channel number 50.

This service is free of charge.

«Call barring» service allows you on your own to limit the usage of your telephone.

Kyivstar GSM network supports the following types of barring:

• barring of all outgoing calls;
• barring of international outgoing calls;
• barring of international outgoing calls in roaming except for calls to Ukraine and to the country of stay;
• barring of all incoming calls;
• barring of all incoming calls in roaming.

All actions connected with call barring are described in the manual on your mobile phone. When turning on call barring you have to indicate the password of barring activating (Barring password). On default every Kyivstar GSM subscriber has a password 0000. You can change this password at your own discretion.

This service is activated for all contract subscribers, no additional monthly fee is charged for this service.

Call divert is a service, which allows you to redirect your incoming calls to another telephone (city or other mobile telephone) and also to your answering machine.

There are 4 types of call diverting:

• absolute (all calls are divert);
• if not answered;
• if telephone is off or is out of reach;
• if the line is busy.

All types of call divert could be set up using the menu of your mobile telephone.

Some mobile telephone models support also additional types of call divert:

• facsimile calls divert;
• data calls divert.

These types of divert work if the «data transmission» or «facsimile transmission» services are ordered.

Attention! Be careful while using calls divert service abroad. Absolute calls divert to the selected number or to «Voice Mail» is charged according to Kyivstar GSM tariffs. If using the conditional divert mode («if the line is busy», «if not answered» «if telephone is off or is out of reach») to any number in any country of the world, the call will be charged as the call form Ukraine to the country of stay plus cost of outgoing call according to the tariffs of foreign operator.

Initially when «if not answered» divert is set up incoming call lasts for 20 seconds and then diverting is actuated. If your telephone does not allow you to change the time you can set it while setting up divert, if not, in order to change it you have to dial the following combination:

**61* telephone number to which the call should be diverted in international format **30 # and then press the button of call sending. Here number 30 — is the number of seconds, after which divert will start

Using the «call waiting» service you may, while speaking to subscriber simultaneously set up a connection with another one. When new subscriber appears on the line while you are talking you will be notified by several short beeps. At that instead of «busy» signal, the person who is calling you will hear beeps of usual call. While you are talking to the first subscriber the sign «call waiting» will appear on the display of your mobile telephone. You can choose either to stop the first call and to start talking to the second subscriber or to hold the first or the second call using the «call hold» feature.

«Call hold» gives you the possibility to interrupt current conversation and respond to the incoming call from another subscriber. Without losing the connection you can leave the firs subscriber on «hold» to switch between two subscribers or to make a call yourself while one call is on «hold».

«Conference call» will allow you to talk simultaneously with several subscribers (up to 5 persons depending on the mobile phone model).

Fee for using the hold and waiting services is charged as if you were making all calls on hold separately. It means that the fee is charged for every call depending on it duration, type of call and its direction. This service is operating if the call waiting feature is turned on in your mobile telephone menu.

Services are activated in the menu of your telephone and are available to all contract subscribers. No additional monthly fee is charged.
