Please, pay your attention that a computer virus that blocks your operating system and offers to unblock it by sending charged text message to the short number of a specific content provider has recently being spread. In order to prevent such cases of fraud and protect the rights and legal interests of Kyivstar Company telecommunication services’ consumers, we consider it necessary to inform you about the following:

• The actions of content providers which contain the signs of fraud are gross violation of contracts about providing short numbers signed with Kyivstar Company. Kyivstar has notified its partners (content providers) about the intolerance of such illegal actions and warned them that in case such actions occur, Kyivstar Company will take measures, presupposed by the contract and current legislation of Ukraine, to make them criminally liable for it.

• Such actions of content providers will be assessed by competent law-enforcement authorities. Presently Kyivstar has reported the cases containing signs of fraud to the Cybercriminal Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

• Kyivstar has applied to ‘Kaspersky Laboratory’ and Microsoft companies with a request to take countermeasures against this computer virus, particularly to provide the consumers of telecommunication services with corresponding protective software.

• Now ‘Kaspersky Laboratory’ Company offers to use the following service to deactivate the virus: http://support.kaspersky.ru/viruses/deblocker. To receive the code to unblock your computer, you need to indicate the telephone number offered to send the message to and the text of this message. As an answer to your request you will receive your  unblocking code. If anybody asks you in any form to do it, be very careful – such offers most probably are of fraud nature.
