Connection equipment

Connection equipment is used to connect computer to mobile phone. You may use one of sets listed below:

  • Pathcord

    For some mobile phones a cord is supplied as a unit.

    If a cord is not supplied it can be bought separately. When buying a cord please make sure that it is compatible with your mobile phone model, that there is special software supplied and that the cord supports a phone working mode as a modem. There are USB and COM cords available. Corresponding free slot should be available on your computer.

    Connection: connect mobile phone with computer by using cord. Then see modem setup.

    Advantages and disadvantages: connection stability, limitation of distance by the cord length.

  • Infrared port (IR-port)

    Some modern mobile phones support IR-port connection. In that case your computer also should be equipped with IR-port.IR-port connection. In that case your computer also should be equipped with IR-port.

    Connection: turn on IR-port on your mobile phone and on your computer. Place them within the line-of-sight at the distance of no more than 1 m. Then see modem setup.

    Advantages and disadvantages: cordless connection is limited by distance up to 1 m, devices should be placed within the line-of-sight.

  • Bluetooth

    Many phone models support Bluetooth connection. In that case your computer also should have a Bluetooth.

    Connection: if Bluetooth adapter is correctly setup on your computer, in the control field (at right lower corner) you will see a new «Bluetooth device» icon. Turn Bluetooth on in the mobile menu (for some models search mode should be turned on then). After this press «Bluetooth device» icon and select «Add Bluetooth device», following tips of «New Bluetooth devices wizard» add your mobile phone. Then see modem setup.

    Advantages and disadvantages: cordless connection is limited by distance up to 10 m.
